POrt-In Process

POrt-Out Process

POrt-Out Process

Porting In is the term used for when a current voucher holder from another housing authority decides they wish to move to Faulkner County. CHA is currently billing, meaning each month CHA will send the housing authority you are moving from a bill for the amount of rent we pay. Your housing authority must accept this condition before we can move forward in the porting process. It is never advised to look for a place to live in Faulkner County with out first getting the guarantee from both housing authorities that your rental assistance will transfer. For more information, see the files at the bottom of the page.

POrt-Out Process

POrt-Out Process

Porting Out is the term used for when a current voucher holder from Conway Housing Authority decides they wish to move to out of Faulkner County to a different jurisdiction. The best way to initiate this process is to call Lorna Simmons at (501) 327-0156 ext. 306 or Natalie Hawks (501) 327-0156 ext. 312 to set up an appoin-tment to discuss how your rental assistance can be transferred. The porting process should be initiated at least three months prior to your yearly recertification, as you are not allowed to break your yearly lease. Please be aware that it is never advised to begin searching for a new place before you have the  guarantee from both housing authorities that your rental assistance will transfer.

Medical Deducations and Assistance For Elderly/Disabled

Reasonable Accommodation

If you have a qualifying disability and are in need of a reasonable accommodation, CHA will do their best to help in any way they are able to. For full rules and to submit a reasonable accommodation, please download the "Request a Reasonable Accommodation" form below. If you need further help, please contact the office at  501-327-0156.

Live-In Aide

The Housing Choice Voucher program understands that some of the individuals we serve need extra or constant support, sometimes in the form of a live in aide. The Live-In Aid will have to be present at your initial housing appointment and will have to sign all paperwork as a member of the household, however their income is not included in household income. For more information, please download the "Request a Live-In Aid" form below.

 Service Animal

Conway Housing Authority abides by all ADA standards regarding service animals and emotional support animals. All landlords working with us on the HCV program are required to support the tenants needs regarding their service animal. If you have a service animal: Any vet visits, medication, food, or other care costs you pay for the animal can be considered a medical deduction. (see below)

Medical Deductions

For individuals with medical costs not covered by insurance, the Housing Choice Voucher program is able to deduct a portion of your  medical expenses from your yearly income, which will lower the amount that you pay towards your rent.

What counts as a medical deduction:

  • Any supplemental insurance you pay
  • Any out-of-pocket prescription costs
  • If you have at-home medical equipment:

                           - Any amount that you pay towards running it

                           - If the equipment requires specific additional items, the costs of them

  • Mileage to and from doctor's appointments

For all of the above information, please keep diligent records of each cost as well as the receipts and statements of those. During annual recertification, please give us all of these papers to process. It is important to give us your information no later than a month before your yearly recertification so that we may verify all of your information.
